We are not born with good vision. Vision develops from infancy through childhood and continues to change throughout our lives. Proper vision development plays a vital role in your child’s overall growth and development.

When vision is compromised there will be problems with:

  • Balance and movement
  • How a child sees their environment
  • The response to their environment

Any Delay in Visual Development:

  • Poor Eye Contact
  • Not crossing midline
  • Visual tracking
  • Poor focusing
  • Strabismus/Amblyopia
  • Nystagmus

Signs vision may be causing your little one difficulty – Overall Delays in Development:

  • Gross motor
  • Fine motor
  • Cognitive skills
  • Speech and language
  • Adaptive Self-Help

Undiagnosed and untreated vision problems can interfere with learning, self-esteem and career choices.  It is our mission to ensure that all the children in our community and the surrounding areas have the best possible vision for life.

Ideally all children should be examined at the age of:

  • Six months
  • Two and a half years
  • Before commencing school
  • Yearly thereafter

However, to find out if your child’s vision may be contributing to his or her challenges, please review the symptom checklist.
